Motor skill performance is dependent on body awareness, or the inherent/automatic perception of the body’s position in space. The development of body awareness depends on the ability of the body and brain to make sense of the information in the environment. This foundation impacts a child's ability to maintain a steady regulatory state and engage in a meaningful way with the people and things in the environment.
The mission of Baby Steps Therapy LLC is to educate parents, therapists and physicians on the importance of the DIRFloortime® approach, the development of the neuromyofascial system, and the overall impact that a child's ability to sustain shared attention and joy has on every aspect of development. The mission of Baby Steps Therapy LLC is to expand the knowledge and research that supports that all children can access their optimal developmental potential when their individual differences are supported and relationship engagement is the foundation of supporting their play. Development proceeds from affect based intentionality. Development is dependent on supportive and respectful relationships. Our bodies develop and function as a whole, with multiple systems feeding into and impacting the other. In order to provide optimal pediatric therapy, it is critical that every system in the body is understood and considered as a part of a child’s overall treatment plan. Our therapy techniques focus on educating and empowering each child’s family in understanding their child’s individuality and ability to grow.
