The Baby Steps Mission

At Baby Steps Therapy, we believe that every person grows and develops uniquely within trusting and meaningful relationships, which provide the foundation for all developmental growth.

Founded in April 2008 by Mary Beth Crawford, MPT, IMC, CEIM, DIRFloortime® expert, Baby Steps Therapy LLC is dedicated to providing optimal pediatric therapy services through a deep understanding of each child’s individuality. This includes careful attention to the unique differences within every child’s musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems, ensuring that treatment is both personalized and effective.

Our Programs

  • A comprehensive developmental theoretical framework and evidenced-based therapeutic approach that puts nervous system regulation, human interaction and connection, and relationships as the foundation for all developmental growth.

  • IASIS microcurrent neurofeedback is a cutting-edge tool used to support the regulation of our clients and client’s caregivers’ nervous systems. People of every age can benefit from this support.

  • This program provides children and adolescents a safe space to develop their motor skills at their pace, while forging social and emotional connections, in a fully integrated experience.

  • Coaching model used to support parents and caregivers in understanding DIR®. This program integrates hands-on coaching and video reflections. This program is designed to be done in trusting and collaborative relationships, which promote parent / caregiver self-discovery and self-reflection as a means to understand and support their child.

  • Mentorships are offered with Mary Beth Crawford, as requested by professionals to support their professional growth and therapy techniques. Mentorship programs include video reviews and discussions specific to the interests and goals of the professional. Mary Beth works with educators, occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech language therapists who are hoping to learn more about the integration of the sensory, motor and affectual pathways in the brain and body, and how to promote the synchrony of these systems within therapy sessions and beyond.

  • This is a computer-based tool that uses metronome beats combined with motor actions to support the development of motor coordination and executive functions such as attention, focus and organization.

  • A sound-based tool that uses specially modified music to stimulate the vagus nerve and generate a state of neuroplasticity (the capacity of the brain to make changes in response to stimulation), in order to support regulation and arousal and to enhance sensory integration and engagement.

  • A sound-based tool that uses specially modified music to stimulate the vestibulocochlear nerve and generate a state of neuroplasticity in the brain (the capacity of the brain to make changes in response to stimulation), in order to support regulation and arousal and to enhance sensory integration, engagement and focus.

  • A wearable device that promotes nervous system regulation through gentle vibrations and sounds. We use this as an adjunct to promote regulation and body awareness for our clients and their caregivers when appropriate.

  • A highly skilled hands-on technique used to promote flexibility and body awareness and decrease pain for clients with tightness in their muscles and fascia.

  • Transformative intensive programs for clients and their families who come to our center to immerse themselves in the DIRFloortime® approach to physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy; uniquely customized to support individual profiles of clients and families.
